All students in the Acrobatic Gymnastics class should wear gym clothing but does not need sneakers. We have a strict policy that he must have a tight fitting yarmulke or a hat that will not come off when doing flips at any time. Please note, if your son’s head covering will come off, then you will need to purchase a large tight fitting yarmulke from the After School Program for $10.
Acrobatic Gymnastics class on a Beginner level (1st semester): The 5 fundamental skills of tumbling: Front Roll, Back Roll, Cartwheel, Momentary Handstand and Back Bridge. The beginner Tumbling Routine will be taught with these and additional skills and techniques. Students will also learn 3 different Trampoline routines that will teach them all the fundamentals. Also they learn Vaulting, mini Tramp and Tumble Track.
Acrobatic Gymnastics class on an Intermediate level (2nd semester): Students will continue to perfect their routines, perform them and get scores and rewards. They will also start to learn more advanced Gymnastics skills like the Back and Front Handspring, Trampoline Flips, Dives, etc…
Acrobatic Gymnastics class on an Intermediate Advanced level (3rd semester): Students will have a sense of freedom with their skills. At this point they begin to take off and are more independent. Their skills level will improve dramatically and they can prepare for performances.
Acrobatic Gymnastics class on an Advanced level (4th semester): Students will perfect their previous skills focussing on accuracy, timing and consistency.
Acrobatic Gymnastics class on a Performance level (5th semester & up): Previous skills are expanded on. Acrobatic performance skills are introduced with the idea of working together towards becoming part of an Acrobatic team, in addition to being able to perform solo. A strong emphasis will be placed on proper timing while performing alone and with other acrobats as this is an imperative skill to master for their Grand Performance at the end of the year. Last year’s performance had an audience of over 700 people.
