All woodworking classes are skill based, not project based.
Woodworking class on a Beginner level (1st semester): will be an Introduction to woodworking: Participants will learn to: recognize different types of wood, make measurements, read a blueprint, make straight and 45` cuts with a hand saw, join wood using nails and adhesives, finish wood using wood stains and oil/wax. The semester project will be a besomim box. A Second project will be made depending on the skill and speed of the class.
Woodworking class on an Intermediate level (2nd semester): Participants will learn to: select appropriate type of wood for their project, make precise measurements and calculations, make straight and angled cuts with hand saw and power saw, join wood using nail gun and special adhesives, apply edge banding, finish wood using advanced, multi step, techniques. The semester project will be a table top shtender. A Second project will be made depending on the skill and speed of the class.
Woodworking class on an Advanced level (3rd semester): Participants will learn to: combine wood with other materials in their project, make precise measurements and calculations, make precision cuts with miter saw, make precision joints and miter joints, finish wood using advanced, multi step, techniques. The semester project will be a Shabbos lamp. A Second project will be made depending on the skill and speed of the class.
